    NCO's Rights to MY Finances?!?!

My husband is in the Army as an E3 and he should have been a E4 by now but thats a different story. Anyway, hubby has a Squad Leader who thinks that my husband and I need him to force himself into our finances. We borrowed money from his friends who have borrowed money from us in the past. No big deal, we are gonna pay them back when our tax refund comes in. However, Squad Leader found out and is now FORCING husband to pay them over $100 each pay check which needs to be saved for other bills. Now, Squad Leader is telling my husband that he needs to take MY debit card to work with him everyday. I say MY debit card because our money is on an account that is only under my name not my husbands. I feel helpless! I dont know what to do. Or even if a Squad Leader CAN do this. Please help!

    Dear Army Wife,

While I'm sure that your husbands chain of command is grateful in the role that you are taking in your husband military carrier, your husbands chain of command is doing the right thing. I know thats not what you want to hear, there is a old saying in the military, trust a Soldier with your life not your money or your wife. This means that you should never trust another Soldier with paying you back on pay day your going to get burned doing that or your going to burn some other Soldier and his family. The squad leader is probably not right with making your husband bring YOUR debit card in but maybe you should take a look in the mirror and think that the squad leader in not trying to hurt you or your husband but is taking extra time in his day, time that he does not have vary much of and is trying to help YOUR finances. Instead of getting on this web site and asking for legal advice maybe you and your Soldier should go to militaryonesource.com or your local ACS and go to a financial class so that you and your husband can get your finances under control and this Squad Leader can work on other problems like making your husband into a productive Soldier and making him a E-4. You should thank this Squad Leader, but if you feel that you have no other options call your husbands Platoon Sergeant or Platoon Leader and if they are of no help call your husbands 1SG or Company Commander.
