I love it when people comment on someone else's blog with the sole purpose of advertising their own site. To save you the trouble, Freedom Fighter Vern believes that the right of free speech should be allowed to impede on the sanctity of a funeral, and he thinks it's OK to disrupt the grieving process. So, if anyone here is against abortion, or against anything for that matter, just go to a funeral with a "God Hates You" sign and you're good to go.

I love it when people make assumptions about me and have no clue what they're referring to, for the sole purpose of bolstering their own self-importance.

Listen, why are funerals sacred? You might think it's out of line, and I might tend to agree with you, but the Constitution makes no allowances for social norms when it defines the freedoms this country is supposed to provide and represent.

Free Speech is the right TO free speech, not the right to be free OF speech.

What YOU people, and I mean the fanatics and double-standard postulators, fail to see is YOUR hypocrisy. If the tables were turned, and your rights to free speech were being violated, WE, and by we I mean the LEFT, WE would be standing BY YOUR SIDE to insure it didn't happen again.

I hope there are others out there that realize it isn't about Freedom of Speech. It's about respect for life and loss of life. Take your protests elsewhere.

Let me know when a family member of yours passes away. I will be perfectly happy to lay a fat crap on their headstone in the interset of 'free speech'. (Crap is art, and vice-versa)

While I agree with you on the right to protect free speech, the venue in question is the problem. If Phelps and his "God Hates Fags" army want to protest, they should find a better place to do so.

The venue in question is a problem, but not for them.

From their perspective, it's the most appropriate place to protest about the troops they feel are betraying this nation.

Personally, I think Phelps ought to be shot, then hung by his balls while his skin is flayed from his body, then doused in the sea.

But I still have to support his First Amendment rights.

Because this is the United States of America. The Land of the Free.

For everyone, not just those who fight, or those who say nice things.

You're exactly right Vern. It is not a problem for them. It IS a problem for the family members who are burying their dead.

Their perspective should be levied upon those who put our troops in harm's way. These are the people who have the power to create, amend, and remove the laws which govern this country. If you want to march, march on Washington, not on Arlington.

But since freedom in this country works both ways, I will be their to celebrate my First Amendment rights as well. The "right of the people peaceably to assemble" to be specific.

Stefan, I hope you don't think I would oppose your efforts to assist this family. I think what you and your fellow riders are doing is a great thing, and if it helps any of these families, that's fantastic.
