Nope, sorry, Steve isn't getting to come home quite yet. But another Steve will hopefully see the U.S. very soon, for the first time.
The 3rd Armored Cav of Ft. Carson, Colorado is trying to bring an Iraqi boy they nicknamed Steve-O to the U.S. The boy provided key intelligence for the unit while they were recently deployed to Iraq. In fact, the boy turned in his own father for leading an anti-US insurgent cell. When his mother was killed in reprisal, the soldiers were the only family the boy had left.
The soldiers are home now, and they want Steve-O to join them. Presently, they are working on bringing him into the country for treatment of an eye injuy, but they would like to eventually see him stay and get an education - and the opportunity for a future.
