The Army Times is reporting more details of the most recent IRR callup.  Among the soldiers being recalled are 117 from Illinois.  The article gives a few more details of the procedure for notification, which is a Western Union Telegram, followed by official orders in the mail.

This is pretty much old news at this point.  What was interesting to me was a quote from Army spokeswoman Andrea Wales.  Said Wales, “It’s almost like they forget they’re in (the military) because there hasn’t been a war.  But there is one now.”

I guess I must have missed that Act of Congress....
