Official Tune on IRR callups

If you were one of the lucky 5674 to win the recent IRR lottery, you will be happy to know that some of the “essential” skills we needed to fight our battles in Iaq were not medical or engineering.  The list, in fact, included two trumpeters, one trombonist, four clarinetists, three saxaphone players, an electric bass player, and a euphonium player, according to the Los Angeles Times.

As Representative Vic Snyder, himself a former Marine asked, “Is there not a way to do without the euphonium player?”

Not to belittle these skills (which apparently the Pentagon thinks we just can't do without), but here are 12 more families whose lives are disrupted needlessly by the recent IRR callups.

I am a reporter in West Virginia interested in speaking with folks called up or likely to be called up from the IRR.

We are most especially looking for Police, Fire Fighters or EMTs.

I received a certified letter from uncle Sam last week. I served 10 years and have been out for 4.5.

I was an officer when I got out and , after digging into this, have found out that when an officer gets out of the military they can call you up for 20 years! (unless you were smart enough to resign your commission).

I did, in fact, resign my commission and am in the middle of fighting this because of a paperwork screw up. I literally have no idea why I'm on their list. Thank God I kept my paper work!

Feel free to email me with comments/questions.
