View from an Army Spouse

Army Steve's Wife, Michelle

Name, Rank, and Serial Number, Please

No, not your spouse's.  (Although that would be good information to know!)  Just a quick reminder to get the name/rank/identification of whomever you talk to.   You want to know who you are talking to and what information they are giving you.  (That way, when you have gotten seven different answers from three different clerks, you at least know who told you what.)  It is a good idea to start a notebook to jot down any notes while you are calling around, trying to get all of the information that you can in the next few weeks.

It is very easy to be intimidated by the whole military process.  Just remember that the military, even more so than civilian businesses, has a chain of command and a set of ways that things are done.  So, if you need more information, don't hesitate to ask for a supervisor.  But remember to be pleasant - a smile can go a long way.
